2. Ceeland’s fitness and leisure industry – a briefing paper by Optima’s commercial director summarising the key features of Ceeland’s fitness and leisure industry.

3. Extracts from Optima’s website – including information about Optima’s facilities, services, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitment.

4. Summary of industry research report – the sales director’s summary of the current challenges in the fitness and leisure industry.

5. Ceeland Daily News article – relating to CSR activities in the fitness and leisure industry.

6. Ceeland Department of Health proposal – outline of a proposal for a collaborative partnership to deliver a new fitness programme for children across Ceeland.

7. Senior management team meeting – an extract from a discussion on the technology developments in the fitness and leisure industry.

8. Email from the finance director – outlining the outcomes of a recent internal audit which highlighted several internal control weaknesses identified at some Optima fitness and leisure clubs.

This information should be used to answer the tasks within your chosen response option(s).

Requirements

As a result of several challenges affecting the fitness and leisure industry in Ceeland, Optima’s board is about to meet to discuss how it should strengthen and protect its position in the market. The finance director has asked you to assist him in preparing for these discussions.

(a) Prepare briefing notes for the finance director which:

(i) Assess the value to Optima of undertaking customer segmentation analysis; and
