The different types of marketing are:

  1. Viral marketing - where consumers are encouraged to share information about a company’s products over the internet / social media channels. 

    A viral advertisement would be shared by many people over the internet.

  2. Guerrilla marketing - uses unconventional tactics to promote a product or brand. 

    It involves taking people by surprise and 'creating a buzz' in unexpected places.

  3. Experiential marketing - aims to stimulate the senses and create an emotional link between the company and the target. 

    It is seen as an effective way of connecting with customers, as the emotional connection encourages brand loyalty.

    For example, creating an advert that plays on the general anxiety of the public.

  4. Relationship marketing -  can be described as the maximisation of customer retention and satisfaction through two-way communication.

    It recognises the long-term value of building customer relationships through dialogue, rather than to bombard the customer with advertising and promotional messages.

  5. Big data marketing -  involves using robots to trawl the internet to use conventional high volume sources of data to understand customers. 

    It will help understand the preferences and desires of each customer.

    Big Data from sources such as website traffic, online trends, customer feedback can also be processed and an accurate model of future demand can be generated.

  6. Digital marketing - includes advertisements on social media, email and metaverse. Examples of digital marketing are social media marketing and search engine marketing.
