Haven't Studied Enough? You're Not Lazy, Just Human

Richard Clarke

So, Your'e Starting To Panic...

... that's a totally relatable feeling. But that sinking feeling of guilt doesn't have to be a negative, in fact, you can use it to turn things around and make the most of these next few weeks of study before your ACCA Exam.

You're Not Lazy, You're Human

Did you know that self-criticism can actually come from caring too MUCH, not too LITTLE about something that's important to you? So caring deeply, demonstrates strong engagement with your ACCA journey.

There's no need to feel a sense of shame about falling behind on your study schedule. In fact, academic research shows that when you do have a deep connection with your studies and feel a sense of ownership over them, your motivation to succeed improves (Self-Determination Theory (Deci & Ryan, 2000)

Find A Temporal Landmark

Fix a point in your mind and plan something that you can realistically achieve such as:
'Tomorrow is Wednesday, I'm mid-week now. By Sunday, I will have covered 3 more topics'.

This temporal landmark will help you with a reset. Switch this week from the negative stance, 'I'm so behind' to the positive, 'I STILL have time to complete this.'

Something Small Every Day

Studying for your ACCA exams is a journey, and the way to complete any long journey is to take small steps every day towards the end.

Showing up and being consistent, even on a a micro scale such as watching one classroom a day, or practising one past question a day will help you to reach your end-goal.

Keep that vision in mind as you reset and make the last weeks before your next exam really count.

Best of luck,

Richard and the Team :)
