ACCA SBL Exam Formats
1. Report Layout
Reports are formal documents used to convey structured information and recommendations. The tone should be professional and concise.
Structure:
- Title: Report on [Subject/Topic]
- To: [Recipient, e.g., Board of Directors]
- From: [Your Name/Role]
- Date: [Insert Date]
- Introduction: Briefly outline the purpose of the report and what it will cover.
- Headed Sections: Use clear headings (e.g., Analysis of Current Performance, Recommendations, etc.) to organise content logically.
- Conclusion/Recommendations: Summarise key findings and provide actionable recommendations.
Key Points:
- Use paragraphs for detailed analysis.
- Avoid bullet points unless specifically required.
- Maintain a formal tone throughout.
2. Briefing Paper Layout
A briefing paper is similar to a report but is typically shorter and more focused on providing key information for decision-making.
Structure:
- Title: BRIEFING PAPER
- About: [Subject/Topic]

- From: [Your Name/Role]
- Date: [Insert Date]
- Introduction: State the purpose of the paper and the issue being addressed.
