Internal and external sources of information
The decision to grant credit to customers is the job of the credit manager.
In determining credit limits, the manager takes into consideration market intelligence.
Sources of information are:
Internal:
This is based on the experience acquired over time, thanks to the long-term relationship with a customer
External:
Data obtained as a result of credit checkings (with credit agencies) or from publicly available sources.
The resulting information must be evaluated and a decision taken as to how much credit to approve for individual customers.
