Henry Fayol has determined many functions of a manager. They are:

  1. Planning - Setting objectives and procedures for the organisation.

  2. Organising - Providing the resources and grouping tasks.

  3. Coordinating - Unifying individuals, reconciling differences between individuals.

  4. Commanding - Giving instructions to subordinates.

  5. Controlling - Measuring performance and correcting any deviations from plans.
