Role of the C-Suite 5 / 8

What is the C-Suite?

The C-suite are the executive leaders of an organisation. They need to demonstrate the following qualities to survive a digital disruption.

  1. Inspirational leadership - The C-suite needs to energise the employees and inspire confidence among them that digitisation is the way to go.

  2. Competitive edge - Here they need to motivate others and change the mindset of employees to see that digital transition is the correct strategy that will give the organisation a competitive edge. Training will be required.

  3. Strategic direction - This requires them to take a emergency and short term approach to planning which increases flexibility.

  4. Influence others -  It is necessary to influence others, specially finance providers to raise capital for investments.

  5. Collaborate - The organisation will need to collaborate with different partners as part of a wider ecosystem to deliver value.

  6. Business judgement -  Use business judgement to figure out which digital operating model should be used to beat competitors.

  7. Execution - Execute the digital strategy and determine what KPIs should be used. A balanced scorecard can also be used to analyse performance.

  8. Build talent - This can be done with the help of training or recruiting new employees. A new core position of a Chief Digital Officer may be required.
