Personal and Professional Ethical Stances

Personal and Professional Values

In an ethical dilemma, a professional accountant should always follow professional standards of ethics, they should not follow what they believe is the right thing to do personally, as this may result in a breach of ethics.

Examples of conflicts between personal and professional values are:

  1. Being asked to work for a company when you think the product that they are selling is wrong

  2. Being asked to flirt with a potential client

  3. Being asked to ignore expense claims that are personal expenses of your employer
