CGT disposal value
Market value may be used in calculating a gain when the disposal is a gift, not a bargain at arm's length or for consideration that cannot be valued.
General rules
Usually the disposal consideration is the proceeds of sale of the asset, but a disposal is deemed to take place at market value:
Where the disposal is not a bargain at arm's length
Where the disposal is by way of a gift
