According to Norris et al. the roles of a project manager include:
Managing people, this includes providing leadership for the project team.
Carrying out processes, this includes coordinating project activities.
Producing the final deliverable, they are responsible for the successful delivery of project objectives.
Responsibilities of a project manager in the:
Organising function - include securing project resources, organising the team and assigning tasks to providers.
Planning function - include communicating the objective to the team and setting up resources to compare actual results with plan.
Controlling function - include taking corrective actions if variations occur and communicating with the team on the progress of the project.
The three constraints of a project that make up the project triangle are time, cost, and quality.
