CIMA E2 Syllabus C. Managing projects - Project Completion - Notes 3 / 4
Projects can be closed at any time in their life cycle.
It is the responsibility of the project steering committee to close down an unsuccessful project.
Completion Stage
The purpose of the completion stage is to ensure that the project conforms to the latest definition of what was to be achieved.
Some of the activities involved in this stage:
Store all project documentation efficiently
Collection of final receipts and making final payments
Acceptance of project outputs/deliverables by clients
Disbanding the project team and ‘tying up loose ends’
Post project review meetings. Evaluation review meetings are used which provide a framework for open dialogue and improved customer relationships. The Internal review is done internally within the organization and teaches the organisation for the future about what was done and what could have been done to improve. The external review is done with the customer, it allows the customer to give feedback and improves customer relations.
Undertaking staff appraisals on their performance during the project
Returning hired equipment
Documenting the lessons learnt that can be used in the future
An internal post-completion review DOES NOT mark the completion of a project.
