A graphical representation of project activities.
A horizontal bar chart which can show planned and actual activity durations on the same chart.
An alternative approach to network analysis. and can be used in both planning and control of a project.

Benefits of Gantt Charts
They allow for easy projection of timekeeping implications if there is “slippage” for certain tasks
They can quickly be updated and adjusted to account for changing circumstances
They are visually simple and intuitive
They are suited to both projects that consist of tasks that can be run in parallel, and projects that consist of phased tasks
