Features of a Network Diagram include:

  1. It is drawn from left to right.

  2. An activity can only occur once.

  3. 'Dummy' activities are sometimes required. When two activities occur in parallel, dummy activity lines can be used to join the nodes together. The dummy activity line is shown as a dotted line. This is shown in the diagram below.

  4. Loops are NOT allowed. This is shown in the diagram below.

  5. Critical path analysis can be complex for small projects

  6. No 2 activities may share the same starting event and the same ending event. This is shown in the diagram below.
