CIMA E2 Syllabus C. Managing projects - Float/Slack - Notes 9 / 16
Float / Slack is spare time in an activity.
The difference between the EET and the LET in a project network analysis is known as float.
Activities on the critical path contain no float.
How to calculate float if we know the LET of the following event?
Find the activity that you want to calculate float for.
Find the immediate event following that activity.
Find the LET of that event.
LET - time for activity = float
When EET, LET, and total time needed for the work are given, float is calculated as follows:
Find the total time allowed for the work
LET - EET = Total time allowed for the work
Find the float
Float = Total time allowed for the work - Total time needed for the work
